From May 19 to 21, 2023, the Old-timer Vehicles Association Kamnik once again organized the International old-timer vehicles Show DSV Kamnik 2023, where more than 70 old-timer vehicles—both cars and motorcycles—were showcased.
Due to poor weather conditions in some parts of Slovenia, the number of participants was slightly lower than expected, so the show was organized into three groups. The first group included particularly attractive old-timer vehicles and old-timer vehicles owned by club members, the second group consisted of motorcycles manufactured up to 1945, and the third group featured old-timer vehicles produced between 1889 and 1945.
This is a unique event of its kind in Slovenia and, as tradition dictates, it began on Friday evening with the arrival of participants from abroad and distant parts of Slovenia.
The main events started on Saturday, May 20, 2023, with the arrival of all participants in Kamnik and the presentation of old-timer vehicles in the town center. This year’s event was enriched by a performance from the Celje Dixieland Ensemble, whose music evoked the eras from which most of the old-timer vehicles originated.
The show was officially opened at 11:30 AM on the Main Square with welcome speeches by the President of DSV Kamnik, Mr. Miroslav Vrhovnik, a representative of the Kamnik Institute for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Ms. Nina Irt, and the Mayor of Kamnik, Mr. Matej Slapar.
At 1:00 PM, participants departed for a scenic drive toward Komenda, stopping at the Komenda Hippodrome, where they were greeted by the Mayor of Komenda, Mr. Jurij Kern. During the stop, attendees also visited the remarkable Lončar Museum. By 5:00 PM, the old-timer vehicles returned to Kamnik—specifically to the Mekinje Monastery—where participation plaques were awarded.
On Sunday, May 21, 2023, the old-timer vehicles were driven to the Volčji Potok Arboretum, where they were displayed throughout the park for numerous visitors to admire. In the afternoon, the now-traditional old-timer vehicles clothing fashion show was held with a record number of participants—16 groups. The Volčji Potok Arboretum awarded flowers to the winning groups. The atmosphere was further enhanced by Jože Jošt with his barrel organ.
It seems the spirit of the pandemic is slowly fading, and we are returning to more normal times, which was evident in this year’s turnout. Once again, we sincerely thank all participants for their presence.
We also extend our gratitude to our sponsors, without whom organizing such a large-scale event would not be possible.
See you next year in Kamnik!
