The 10th edition of the International old-timer vehicles Show, organized by the Old-timer Vehicles Association Kamnik, took place on May 18 and 19, 2024. Once again, it featured beautifully preserved old-timer vehicles, great weather, and a large number of spectators. This year’s show was organized into two groups: the first group included club old-timer vehicles and especially attractive old-timer vehicles, while the second group featured motorcycles and cars manufactured between 1889 and 1945. A total of 70 old-timer vehicles were presented.
The event began in Kamnik with the gathering of participants and individual drives into the town center, where all old-timer vehicles were introduced to the public. Once the old-timer vehicles were arranged in the old town center—where old-timer vehicles fit perfectly—the official opening ceremony of the show began.
Throughout the event, the atmosphere was brightened by barrel organ player Jože Jošt, and just before the official start, members of the Veronika Majorettes from Kamnik performed. The official opening began with a welcome address from the President of DSV Kamnik, Mr. Miroslav Vrhovnik, followed by speeches from Mr. Luka Svetec, Director of the Kamnik Institute for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Mr. Leon Vrtovec, President of SVS, Mr. Janko Uratnik, representative of FIVE, and Mr. Matej Slapar, Mayor of Kamnik. After the opening, the old-timer vehicles remained on display for a large crowd of visitors.
Following the stop in Kamnik, the participants went on a relaxed panoramic drive to the Snovik Spa. Before entering the holiday village, the Tuhinj Wind Orchestra welcomed the group. The old-timer vehicles were then arranged in the spa’s outdoor parking area. During the stop, entertainment was again provided by the Tuhinj Wind Orchestra, and participants were welcomed by DSV Kamnik President Mr. Miroslav Vrhovnik, Snovik Spa Procurator Mr. Ivan Hribar, HROS President Mr. Antun Presečki, and FIVE representative Mr. Janko Uratnik. The stage was then taken over by the vocal group Klapa Stari Grad.
After the program concluded, the old-timer vehicles columns continued to the Mekinje Monastery, where the Old-timer Vehicles Association Kamnik awarded certificates to all participants and contributors.
On Sunday, May 19, the event continued—as in recent years—at the Volčji Potok Arboretum. The old-timer vehicles were displayed on the grassy area near the entrance, where they attracted a large number of park visitors. The second day was officially opened with greetings from DSV Kamnik President Mr. Miroslav Vrhovnik, Volčji Potok Arboretum representative Mr. Primož Prešeren, SVS President Mr. Leon Vrtovec, FIVE representative Mr. Janko Uratnik, and HROS President Mr. Antun Presečki.
After a short break, the traditional old-timer vehicles fashion show followed, in which participants showcased period clothing matching the era of their old-timer vehicles. This year’s fashion show set a new record for the number of participating groups, and we hope that next year’s edition will be even more successful.
This year’s show was once again a great success, thanks to the very interesting participants, the dedication of Old-timer Vehicles Association Kamnik members, and the support of sponsors—without whom the event would not have been possible.
The members of DSV Kamnik promise that next year’s show in May 2025 will be even better. See you there!
